Ellerslie Substation Expansion

What’s happening at the Ellerslie Substation? Project Area Update: July 2010

You may have noticed recently that construction activities are occurring near AltaLink’s Ellerslie Substation. This construction work is not associated with the Ellerslie Substation Expansion project which AltaLink has been conducting consultation about in the community over the past several weeks, a process that is nearly complete. Construction related to transmission infrastructure only occurs if approval is received from the AUC. AltaLink has yet not submitted its Facility Application for this project to the Alberta Utilities Commission (AUC), but anticipates doing so later in 2010. If the AUC approves the Ellerslie Substation Expansion project, construction is scheduled to begin in early 2012.

Construction activities you may be seeing right now in the Ellerslie Substation area are not directly related to the Ellerslie Substation Expansion project, but rather are other transmission infrastructure projects being built. All of the projects currently under construction have received the required AUC approval, including permit and license.
