The Project: Details
The Southwest 240 kV Project consists of the following five major components:
- Build a new Goose Lake substation near the existing Pincher Creek substation;
- Expand the Peigan and North Lethbridge substations;
- Construct a new double-circuit 240 kV transmission line between the new Goose Lake
substation and the Peigan substation; and - Construct a new double-circuit 240 kV transmission line between the Peigan substation
and the North Lethbridge substation; and - Complete associated improvements to the existing 138 kV transmission system,
accommodating the addition of the proposed 240 kV transmission line. The major
improvements consist of:
- Stirling to Tempest substation (new 138 kV transmission line)
- 725L and 170L 138 kV connection (southwest of Fort Macleod)
- Fort Macleod 15S substation upgrade
- Magrath 225S substation upgrade
- Drywood 415S substation upgrade
