Overview

AltaLink is proposing to reinforce the transmission system in the Pincher Creek area with a new substation named Fidler and transmission line to connect the growing number of wind power generation facilities to customers across Alberta. This project is related to the larger Southern Alberta Transmission Reinforcement.

Project Details

AltaLink is proposing to:
      • Build a new substation northeast of the Town of Pincher Creek
      • Build approximately 15 kilometres of new transmission line
      • Reconfigure and remove some sections of existing transmission lines in the area
Communities involved: Pincher Creek area
Status of project: Consultation underway 

Project schedule

                        November &  
                   December 2009  
   Notify and consult with stakeholders and landowners
                       June 2010      File application with Alberta Utilities Commission 
   (AUC) for regulatory review and approval  
                       Winter 2011      Start project construction if approval is granted by AUC
                     Summer 2011      Complete project construction
