Overview
The 1202L transmission line is located between the city of Edmonton and the Wabamun area and connects the Keephills and Ellerslie substations. The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) has requested that AltaLink increase the voltage of its existing 1202L transmission power line from 240 kV (240,000 volts) to 500 kV (500,000 volts). The line was originally designed and built for a voltage of 500 kV, but to date has been operating at 240 kV.
