240 kV Line Upgrades

New 908L Transmission Line | 904L Transmission Line Rebuild

The Alberta Electric System Operator (AESO) has requested AltaLink complete system upgrades in the Edmonton region to:

• Remove bottlenecks which restrict transmission line capacity;
• Address the changes in Alberta’s electric grid due to the future retirement of a
      coal-fired electricity generator at Wabamun and the growth of wind generated
      electricity in southern Alberta; and
• Meet the increasing electrical demand in Edmonton and the northeast region.
